Punisher Patch Christian Biblical Basis

I am frequently asked why I wear an American Flag patch with a Punisher symbol on it like the one pictured above. I have several powerful reasons for doing so based upon Sacred Scripture in the Bible and the history of God’s soldiers as they fought evil. In 1 Peter 2:14 the Apostle Peter declares that the purpose of government is: “for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good.” Unfortunately in the USA today we have corrupt government at every level that does just the opposite so I believe it us up to all of us Christians to step up and do the job that our government is not doing and punish those that perpetrate evil and also praise those who do good in the name of God.

Great Christian leaders like St. Bernard of Clairvaux have always understood that we have such a calling from God and he told the early Knights Templars precisely this when he wrote to them his famous letter now known as In Praise of the New Knighthood (Liber ad milites temple de laude novae militia) “The knight of Christ, I say, may strike with confidence and die yet more confidently, for he serves Christ when he strikes, and serves himself when he falls. Neither does he bear the sword in vain, for he is God's minister, FOR THE PUNISHMENT OF EVILDOERS AND FOR THE PRAISE OF THE GOOD.”

My other big reason is because of what St. Joan of Arc said to her army just before her great victory at the Battle of Patay when she completely annihilated an enemy army. When there was some hesitation in aggressively pursuing and engaging the enemy St. Joan passionately told them: "In God's name, we must fight them! Even if they were hung from the clouds we would have them; for God sends us to punish them! The noble King will have today the greatest victory that he has had in a long time. And my counsel has told me that they (the enemy) are all ours." St. Joan’s victory at the Battle of Patay is one of the most overwhelming victories in all of military history and shows the kind of success that can be achieved when we aggressively engage the enemies of God because, again, He wants us to PUNISH EVILDOERS!

I am also inspired to some extent by the use of the Punisher symbol by the legendary “American Sniper” Chris Kyle which is what really started Americans today wearing punisher symbols. You can see just how much I admire Chris Kyle in this paper I wrote in 2013 you can find here that defends him as a sniper from attacks by leftist socialists who tried to smear his reputation after he died. BUT I only draw a minor inspiration from Chris in wearing a Punisher American Flag Patch because I always seek to put God first in everything that I do and it is the strong biblical basis and Christian history I have just detailed that is my primary reason which is what I hope will now inspire even more Christians to join us in not only wearing the patch but in also aggressively battling evil today because this is how we annihilate the enemy just like St. Joan of Arc did at the Battle of Patay!
